PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a hormonal imbalance in woman. It may cause irregular periods or anovulation that make’s woman with PCOS difficult getting pregnant. Aside from that, if left untreated itmay lead to serious problems such as diabetes, heart disease etc. Symptoms listed below:

If you have at least two of the symptoms listed above you may be diagnosed with PCOS. On my case I have irregular period and extra hair growth on my upper lip and legs. I feel depressed not only because of my appearance but also I really want to have kids on my own. According to my OB-Gyne, PCOS has no cure but cyst are not dangerous and symptoms can be treated. Like for example if I want to regulate my hormone, she can prescribe contraceptive pills or if I’m planning to get pregnant, she will give me fertility medicine. Dra. Stated also that there are some woman with PCOS ovulate and get pregnant naturally. And success rate of fertility treatment depend on the response of woman’s body. For the meantime she prescribed me duphaston to induce my menstruation and ALTHEA (contraceptive pills) to regulate my hormone.
I still depressed and ashamed because of my condition. I feel I’m not a 100% woman. I have a lot of “What If?” on my mind. If you’re also 1 in 10 women with PCOS reading right now, believe me I feel you and I understand what you feel. Or if you’re suspecting you have PCOS don’t think twice and consult an OB- Gyne now.
I’ve been a silent reader of a lot of forums about PCOS. Some stories may be disheartening and some are inspiring. Until one day I told to myself that I have to be positive and stop overthinking. Instead I should think on how I can manage my condition. I mentioned earlier about ALTHEA Contraceptive Pills and I started taking vitamins like FOLIC – ACID and Vitamin E. Those vitamins will help my body produce good quality of egg. Aside from vitamins, PCOS can be manage through diet and exercise. One of the key to manage the symptoms of PCOS is to change our lifestyle, be active and eat healthy foods.
